Frequently Asked Questions

Are your caps safe to use with fuel?
The Engineered Caps were designed as fuel caps. They are available with gasoline or diesel fuel logos. The balance of the caps are molded out of HDPE with EPDM gaskets which are both fuel resistant.

Does Flambeau have a cap that meets CARB standards?
Yes, please see our CARB/EPA cap section using the links to the left.

Do you inventory the catalog numbers?
Our plan is to have all of the items in inventory. With the Engineered Caps being new items, we will not always have all caps in inventory as we do not know what the best selling items will be.

If not in inventory, what are your lead times?
Our standard lead times are 4 to 6 weeks.

What are the material choices?
The Engineered Caps are available in nylon. The other caps are molded out of HDPE. Due to the variance in the shrink rate of materials, size is a problem in running other materials.

Are the caps available in custom colors?

Yes. There will be a special set-up charge and minimum run sizes will be determined by the availability of the color requested.

Can the caps be customized with a customer logo?
Yes. On the Engineered Caps, the center section of the caps is an insert in the tooling. We will quote custom inserts, but will need your artwork prior to quoting. Lead times to make custom inserts will be about 6 weeks. On the other style caps, each request will need to be reviewed.

Can the standard caps be customized with a hot stamp or pad print?
Yes. We will need your artwork to get a quote for the tooling.

How do you identify a cap as being vented?

All of the standard caps have a small opening in the top, if vented. There is a thread vent style in the Engineered Cap line. For this reason, all vented Engineered Caps have a raised button at the center of the top. Non-vented caps are smooth.

Will a top vented cap allow moisture to get into the tank?
Like most caps in the marketplace, if air can get in, so can moisture.
